Heavy and sustained rain is expected to strike Kent today, the Met Office says.
Its weather warning says heavy showers breaking out today are likely to be slow-moving in nature.
This will allow some locally high rainfall to build up from torrential downpours between 9am and 4pm.
Its statement this morning says: “Very locally 15 to 20 mm rain could fall in an hour and 20 to 30 mm could fall in two or three hours.”
But the chief forecaster’s assessment is that most places will miss the worst of the showers.
The heaviest showers are likely during the mid to late morning and first half of this afternoon.
There may also be thunder and lightning with some showers but this is likely to be isolated in nature.
