AS A nation of 28 million car owners we all have our pet hates when we get behind the wheel and Hi-Q in Maidstone has undertaken research to discover what gets the region’s blood boiling.

A new survey of Maidstone drivers reveals that failing to indicate is the most irritating bad motoring habit, with 30 per cent saying it annoyed them.

While 22 per cent said they had experienced road rage as a result of motorists driving too slowly or too fast, more than 11 per cent also admitted to raging at learner drivers, according to the study commissioned by Maidstone fastfit specialist Hi-Q.

‘White van man’, older drivers and motorcyclists also scored highly as the root cause of road rage for their driving style. The latest statistics from Hi-Q support a recent Gallup Poll, which showed the UK as the leading country in the world for road rage, with 80.4 per cent of drivers falling victim.

Hi-Q’s Marketing Manager, Mike Garwood said that the results give an insight into what makes drivers angry when they are behind the wheel.

He said: “Road rage often seems to be linked to congestion, the more traffic jams drivers have to endure, the angrier they get. It’s a sign of the increasingly stressful and hectic lifestyles people lead, particularly in towns and cities.”
