A disabled grandmother who describes her life as ‘mucked up’ following a stroke and heart attack is waiting for spare parts for her wheelchair seven months after placing the order.
Rosemary Norris, from Park Wood, fell ill in September 2015 and had to give up her job as her son’s carer.
The 67-year-old now uses a motorised wheelchair but requires additional footplates and an arm rest, yet to be delivered by mobility equipment company Millbrook Healthcare.
She said: “I have mobility issues on my right-hand side so I need a new arm rest because my arm won’t stay on the one it has at the moment.
“My grandson is constantly picking it up and putting it back on the rest. I also need two elevated footrests so it is easier to rest my legs and stop swelling in them.”
Before suffering a stroke and a subsequent heart attack just a month later, Mrs Norris looked after her son, John, who has spina bifida and cerebral palsy.
He too has been waiting on Millbrook Healthcare, based in Ashford, to provide spare parts for his wheelchair and has been waiting since December 2016.
Mrs Norris ordered parts in February and was given delivery dates in both October and November, but the parts never arrived.
She added: “The stroke has mucked my life up.
“When I call Millbrook they check and call back to say they have got the bits and they can deliver them on a certain day and a certain time.
“When the day comes nobody turns up.
“One day they rang and said the delivery driver had called in sick. I don’t think they are bothered.”

Issues were also highlighted by a Royal navy veteran, who lost his leg more than 30 years ago in an accident. Stephen Beerling complained about delays for his wheelchair equipment.
Mr Beerling, a former Fant ward councillor finally got his delivery last month – three months after his request.
Alex Underwood, governance manager for Millbrook Healthcare, said the firm didn’t comment on individual cases.
He said staff were investigating Mrs Norris’ case and would be in touch with her and her son.
