Do you know a hero or heroine of the community that should be honoured in this year’s Pride of Maidstone awards?
To mark our 150th year in Maidstone the Kent Messenger is joining forces with Maidstone council to bring back the awards, which give a pat on the back to the unsung heroes and inspirational individuals of the borough.
We’re looking for readers to nominate deserving candidates for their achievements, good deeds and selfless service to others.
The nomination might be for a charity worker or carer who’s worked selflessly to improve the lives of others, or maybe your chosen hero is an inspirational figure from the world of business or sport.

Perhaps a single act of bravery or a good deed needs to be recognised; perhaps your nominee has defied illness and battled on in the face of adversity.
Whatever the reason, this is your chance to think of someone who deserves saluting for their achievements and put their name forward for recognition.
Kent Messenger editor Bob Bounds said: “This year’s 150th anniversary Pride in Maidstone awards will be an extra special celebration of those that make a real difference to the town. It’s a great way to acknowledge their efforts and let them know what their achievements mean to all of us in Maidstone.”
Cllr Chris Garland (Con), leader of Maidstone council, said: “Our borough is full of people who deserve recognition for their achievements or service to others. They don’t do it for recognition but their deeds should be highlighted. There is so much to be proud of in Maidstone, we should celebrate our local heroes and take inspiration from them.”
A special category is open to children, who can be nominated to become an official Maidstone Marvel. All you have to do is fill in the form on this page to nominate someone for a certificate.Every week we will write about the achievements you tell us about, so everyone can share in the Pride of Maidstone.
The closing date for entries is Sunday May 31 and the awards will be presented with certificates at a ceremony later this year.
