A woman has appeared in court charged with stabbing her fiancé during a row at his Maidstone home.
Jackie Hurn, 48, is alleged to have knifed Nigel Watson in the back.
Mr Watson, also 48, was airlifted to London's Kings College Hospital following the altercation in Hayle Road.
Hurn, of Ordnance Terrace, Chatham, was taken to Maidstone Hospital with bruising to her head and body and cuts to her fingers.
Both were then arrested, with Mr Watson later released without charge and Hurn charged with wounding with intent.
Maidstone Magistrates' Court heard this morning from Toby Borrough, defending, who said Hurn had acted in self-defence against a man with a history of domestic violence.
She entered no plea and was remanded in custody for her own protection to appear at the town's Crown Court on Monday, May 9.
