A police officer was taken to hospital after their hand was bitten.
The constable needed 'serious' hospital treatment after the attack, which followed the arrest of a suspect in Week Street, Maidstone.
Patrols were called at 8.15pm last Thursday to reports of a disturbance at a restaurant.
Following a search of the area, a woman was detained after which it is alleged she became abusive and made racist comments as members of the public were walking past.
She was then escorted to a police vehicle where it is further alleged the woman kicked a police sergeant and bit a constable’s hand.
The officer later required treatment at hospital to a deep cut and a serious hand injury.
Sherilee Wray, of Salem Street, Maidstone was later charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assaulting an emergency worker, racially aggravated threatening, insulting and abusive behaviour, and causing the public harassment, alarm and distress.
The 44-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, August where she was remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on September 5.
