The A20 Ashford Road at Bearsted was closed to traffic this morning after a woman collapsed.

Police shut the road in both directions between Cavendish Way and Spot Lane for nearly 90 minutes while medics attended the scene and performed CPR on the patient who was a passenger travelling in a vehicle with her daughter.

The incident happened at around 10.15am.

South East Coast Ambulance Service later took a 52-year-old patient to Maidstone Hospital, where sadly she died a few hours later.

Kent Police re-opened the road at 11.25am.
