Bradbourne Lakes Park in Sevenoaks

A woman has been fined for wasting police time after lying about being sexually assaulted in a park today.

Kent Police were called to Bradbourne Lakes Park, in Sevenoaks, at 10.30am.

Officers launched an investigation after a woman claimed she had been attacked.

Senior detectives even issued a public appeal for witnesses to come forward.

But police said this evening the woman had been given a fixed penalty notice for wasting police time.

A force spokesman said officers had established no offence had been committed.
