A woman has been found dead near the Maidstone branch of Homebase.

The deceased, thought to be in her 40s, is believed to have been found hanged in the shop's outside yard, at the back of the building in St Peter’s Street.

A Homebase spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that we became aware of an incident in our Maidstone store on Friday, December 10.

"The incident is the subject of an ongoing police investigation."

Police were called to the store shortly after 10am. A spokeswoman said: "Officers attended and established that there were no suspicious circumstances."

The coroner has been notified and a post mortem is yet to take place.
