A ROAD in a town centre was closed off after a woman was hit by a car.

Ambulance and police attended the scene of the accident in Wyke Manor Road, Maidstone on Tuesday.

The woman was taken to Maidstone Hospital with head injuries, which are not thought to be life threatening.

Wyke Manor Road was closed for about 30 minutes.
