A WOMAN jumped onto the bonnet of a car in an attempt to stop a thief escaping with money she had just withdrawn from a bank.
Police say the woman had apparently been robbed of a significant amount of cash.
The drama unfolded as the victim withdrew cash from the NatWest bank in Ashford Road, Bearsted, Maidstone, at about 1.35pm on Friday.
The robber snatched the money and was driving away in what is believed to be a silver Ford Fiesta.
A police spokesman said: "The woman jumped on the bonnet of the car in order to stop him but was thrown off as the man headed in the direction of Maidstone.
"Fortunately, the woman is not thought to have been injured during this incident."
The man is described as being aged 30-40, with mousey coloured, short spiky hair. He was believed to have been wearing a blue checked shirt and glasses."
Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident, in particular a lorry driver and a bus full of passengers who were apparently in the area at the time.
