Emergency services, including police, fire and two ambulance crews were called to the scene at 3.30pm.
The air ambulance also landed at Mote Park but was stood down at the scene.
A witness said: "It doesn't look good, there's a lot of emergency services about.
"The station's completely closed off, you can't get anywhere near it.
"It looks like there's two buses inside and there's lots of emergency services staff walking around."
The bus station was completely closed off, with access from both King Street and Romney Place not possible until about 5.30pm when the cordon was removed.
The woman, who was fully conscious, was taken to Tunbridge Wells Hospital by ambulance.
Arriva buses continued to run by using other town centre bus stops but passengers were warned to expect delays on all services running in and out of Maidstone.
Anyone with information about what happened is asked to call Kent Police on 101.
