A woman with multiple stab wounds was found by police on patrol in a town centre.
Officers made the shocking discovery in Station Road, Maidstone, yesterday evening.
Police say they found the woman, who is in her 30s, at about 5.30pm and confirmed she had suffered “injuries consistent with stab wounds”.
A large cordon was set up by officers and the road was shut off for many hours, with forensics teams also called to the incident.
A 40-year-old woman from Chelmsford in Essex was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and remains in custody.
The injured woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
A police spokesman says enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
