Officers are investigating a report of a girl being approached by a man when out walking.

The incident is said to have occurred in Sutton Road, Maidstone, yesterday afternoon.

The girl walked away from him but told her parents about it when she got home.

A police spokesman said: "At 4.46pm on Saturday September 10, we received a report stating that, approximately an hour earlier, a girl was walking in the Sutton Road area of Maidstone when a man in a car asked if he could ask her a question.

"The girl ignored him and walked away before reporting the incident to her parents when she got home.

"As the girl was walking away, the car was seen pulling up near Willington Street. The driver was then seen crossing the road."

The spokesman added that an appointment has been made to speak to the girl and her family to gather further information.
