Maidstone will play four successive away games in the first month of the National South season following news of a fixture swap.

Building works at the Gallagher Stadium, to replace the existing matchday control room and toilet block, have seen their August 19 meeting with Yeovil switched to Huish Park instead.

The return game takes place on February 3.

It means after opening the season at home to Slough on August 5, the Stones will go more than three weeks without playing in front of their own fans.

George Elokobi’s side go to Bath (August 12) and Braintree (August 15), followed by Yeovil and Hemel Hempstead (August 26).

They return to the Gallagher with a Bank Holiday Monday game against Taunton (August 28).

Project coordinator Mike Littleboy said: “We had hoped to complete these works over three weeks during pre-season, as it is essential that we have a functioning control room in place, but unfortunately the delivery of the new buildings was slightly delayed from our original dates.

“As soon as the delivery date was confirmed, we spoke to Yeovil and the National League and they kindly supported the fixture reversal.

“Our thanks to everyone for their understanding as we carry out these essential works.”
