Maidstone United top scorer Jack Barham has joined National League rivals Aldershot for an undisclosed fee.

Barham has 10 goals to his name this season - nine in the league and one in the FA Trophy.

While the team have struggled, the tireless striker's performances have continued to catch the eye.

He was offered a new two-year deal by the Stones but wanted to guarantee National League football - something that looks unlikely at the Gallagher next season.

It made sense to sell now rather than lose him on a free transfer in the summer.

Aldershot had money to spend after selling Inih Effiong to Dagenham and targeted Barham, who departs with a record of 28 goals in 71 appearances.

The 27-year-old played a key role in last season's National South title triumph, scoring 18 goals, including three hat-tricks, despite missing the first three months with a knee injury.

Stones chief executive Bill Williams said: "Jack has been brilliant for this club and we would have loved him to stay for a couple more seasons, but fully understand his desire to play at this higher level of football, which we cannot guarantee.

"We thank Jack for all he brought to our club and wish him and his family well in the future."

Barham, who's signed a deal to the summer of 2025, made his debut as a second-half substitute as Aldershot drew 1-1 at Maidenhead on Tuesday night.
