Andre Coker's Maidstone future is up in the air despite having a year left on his contract.

The winger spent most of this season on loan at Dartford after falling out of favour under former manager Harry Wheeler.

Head of football John Still and head coach Hakan Hayrettin have told him he's welcome back but the former Crystal Palace youngster Coker will bide his time before making a decision.

He's desperate for regular football and will have a better idea whether that's possible at Maidstone once he's seen what changes Still and Hayrettin make over the summer.

Coker, 21, said: "They said they're happy to have me back, so we'll see, but as of now I'm not sure what the future holds.

"I just want to play next season. That's it. Anywhere. I just want to play football.

"I had big hopes for this season but a lot of stuff didn't pan out the way I wanted it to.

"I've spoken to John and Hakan and they won't hold me back.

"They know what's happened and what I've been through.

"They understand but at the same time they've said they'll give me a chance if I do want to stay and get myself in the team.

"They won't pre-judge, they'll give me a fair chance.

"They've said they're honest people so I respect what they're saying.

"I can go away and think about it and see what's going on.

"At this moment in time there's only four or five contracted players so I'd like to see the team as well and whether it's possible for me to play.

"I'm sure there's going to be a lot of people coming and going.

"It'll be interesting to see what the team is and then make a decision from there."

Coker had an outstanding pre-season but an injury just before the opening game against Hartlepool set him back.

He returned under Jay Saunders but lasted one half of Wheeler's first game in charge, a 2-0 defeat by Harrogate, before being sent out on loan.

Coker said: "Everything happens for a reason.

"I've been through it, I'm stronger for it, I've learnt a lot this season.

"I just move on, look forward to next season and try and prevent those things from happening again.

"You can't keep blaming others.

"Maybe I could have been doing more or should have been doing more.

"I'm sure he couldn't do that to someone who was doing their job right so it must have been something to do with me.

"Obviously I'm not happy about it and I don't agree with it but I'm not going to start blaming others.

"I know I didn't start the season the way I planned to and if I did I probably wouldn't have been in that situation.

"I was fired up and ready and then I had an injury setback and results weren't going our way by the time I was back in.

"Not everything can go sweet for you but it's not changed my ambitions in football, it's just slowed me down a bit.

"I'm still very ambitious, and a lot can change in a year."
