Jay Saunders admitted the better team won at the Gallagher Stadium on Tuesday night.
Saunders saw his Maidstone side beaten 2-0 by Kent rivals Ebbsfleet in front of a record stadium attendance of 2,363.
Speaking after the game, the Stones boss was quick to praise the opposition.
Saunders said: "I thought they deserved the three points. If you look over the course of the 90 minutes they were probably the better side.
"I thought, especially in the final third, they had that little bit of class. I thought Kissock and Parkes had that bit of quality and Keds up there.
"A lot of it was played in front of us without really hurting us in behind but we took 45 minutes to get into the game. We never really started in the first half, I thought we froze a little bit.
"That's something we've got to look at it because we did it on Saturday, froze for 20 minutes and then got going.
"Tonight, we were better in the second half without really hurting them.
"There was one good save from Brandon (Hall) from Joe Healy but I don't think we did enough with the ball over the 90 minutes to get anything out of it."
