Freddie Allinson set the pace to win the half-marathon at Sunday's Heart of Kent Hospice Maidstone Road Run.

Clapham Chasers runner Allinson, son of Heart of Kent Hospice patron and former KM Media Group chairman Geraldine Allinson OBE DL, was more than two minutes clear of second place with 1hr28min18sec. His time was only six seconds slower than 2023 winner Ryan Worsley.

Jon Richardson (1:30.37, M35) and Adrian Perkins (1:32.29, M50) completed the top three, with F45 Jayne O'Sullivan the fastest lady in 1:50.24 followed by Kathryn Lacey (1:59.52, F40) and Kitty Allinson (2:01.00).

The event, one of many the hospice hold each year, has so far raised £14,500.

As well as the half-marathon, races were also held over 10 and 5k and there was a 1k fun run, too, with 250 runners in all.

The 10k couldn't be closer, Robert Phillips (39.50) beating fellow M35 runner Paul Wallace by just one second. Benjamin Belton (MJ) was third overall in 41.24.

There was another F45 athlete setting the pace among the ladies, Belinda Harrison clocking 46.46. Jasmine Arnold was three minutes and more behind (49.54) while F45 Jo McRae was third lady over 10k in 50.23.

Tristan Canty (17.24) had 17 seconds in hand over next-best David Mighie (M35) in this year's 5k. Third place went MJ Declan Tighe's way in 20.02.

For the women, FJs Aoife Foley (21.41), Anna Palmer (22.10) and Alice Baxter (26.41) led the field.

Event organiser Maisie Bass paid tribute to the runners and volunteers who get the show on the road.

"It was wonderful to see so many runners take part in Maidstone Road Run and helped to raise an incredible £14,500 for Heart of Kent Hospice," she said.

"A huge thank-you to all our amazing volunteers, who generously gave their time, and without which the event could not happen."
