Hakan Hayrettin called on a favour from a friend to bring Football League striker Max Watters to Maidstone.

Watters joined the Stones on loan from League 1 Doncaster on Friday and was handed his debut 24 hours later against Hampton & Richmond.

He made an encouraging start, despite the 2-1 defeat, and United hope he will help solve their lack of goals after Hayrettin struck a deal with Rovers boss Darren Moore.

Head coach Hayrettin said: "Darren Moore’s a personal friend of mine, I played with him at Torquay and Doncaster.

"He’s given me the heads up on this kid, I said I want to bring him in and he’s let me bring him in.

"The club have been fantastic yet again and we’ve brought him in.

"He lives in Upminster, which isn't far, so we've got a lad that’s willing to come out on loan from a League 1 club.

"I thought he showed some nice touches and he'll only get better."

Ibrahim Olutade has gone back out on loan to Leatherhead.

The striker scored 14 goals during his first spell with the Tanners, form that earned a Maidstone recall.

But he's seen little action and was left on the bench in the midweek defeat by Bath as United chose to push defender Ross Marshall up front instead.

The fresh loan deal had already been agreed by then but Olutade, who signed a two-year contract with the Stones last summer, could still have a future at the Gallagher.

"No, he's not done here," said Hayrettin.
