Hakan Hayrettin won't let sentiment get in the way of team selection at Maidstone.
Iffy Allen is the perfect example, with the midfielder losing his place in the early weeks of the season.
The pair worked together at Braintree and Hayrettin pushed to bring him to the Gallagher Stadium.
But players have to produce and Allen, who returned for Saturday's FA Cup win over Cheshunt, knows what's required.
He boosted claims for an extended run by scoring one and setting up another in the Stones' 4-1 victory.
Head coach Hayrettin said: "He was given another chance. He knows what he's got to do and that's work hard with and without the ball - simple.
"He doesn't have to be the best player, he doesn't have to be in the best team, he has to be in the winning team.
"I know him well but he did better for me at Braintree than what he's done here.
"There's no hidden agenda with me.
"I'm open about what I say and he needs to produce, the same as all the wide players."
