MAIDSTONE moved up to second in Ryman League Division 1 South after a 6-0 demolition of Corinthian-Casuals at Bourne Park on Saturday.

A Corinthians side who failed to live up to its name had two players sent off in the opening period.

Maidstone went in front after just eight minutes when Nick Hegley robbed Matt Smith of possession on the edge of the box and cut the ball back to Alex Tiesse whose first shot was saved but scored from the rebound.

The second goal arrived on 29 minutes in bizarre circumstances. Aaron Lacey's throw-in was turned in by Mo Takaloo at the far post but the goal was ruled out and, after consulting with his linesman, the referee awarded a penalty and sent off Corinthians' Ben Ward for an apparent handball.

Takaloo scored and four minutes later added his second goal after a cross by Tiesse.

Takaloo then had a free-kick tipped over and managed to get himself booked for dissent before completing his hat-trick in the 40th minute.

A wonderful solo run by Nathan Paul presented gim with a tap-in and to compound Corinthians' misery, striker Jamie Byatt was sent off for a second bookable offence two minutes later.

Ninety seconds before half-time Tiesse made it 5-0 from a tight angle after collecting a through ball from Ryan Royston and the striker was denied a hat-trick in first half injury time when his lob cannoned back off the crossbar.

With the game in the bag the second half was a tepid affair, but Maidstone got their sixth goal in the 50th minute when Lacey's cross was mis-hit by Simon Austin but bounced in off Corinthians defender Craig Dunne.

The visitors keeper Colin Harris did well to deny the Stones any further reward in the second half making impressive saves from Errison Ahwan and Tiesse and the referee took pity on Corinthians by playing just 13 seconds of injury time.
