Saidou Khan has dismissed suggestions he is leaving Maidstone in the January transfer window.

Khan hasn't played since suffering a knee injury in the win at Oxford City last month and that's had fans discussing his future.

Some have questioned whether he's played his last game for the club and is being kept out of the team as a Football League transfer is in sight.

But that's not the case and the midfielder is happy to set the record straight.

"It's just hype," said the 24-year-old, who hopes to be fit for Tuesday's rearranged home game against Hemel Hempstead, with Maidstone not in action this weekend.

"I've done well the last few games I've played and everyone starts thinking 'he could get a move' and now I'm injured.

"Not everyone knows I'm injured so they're just making up their own stories, saying 'I think he's leaving, blah, blah, blah' but I'm not, I'm still here, I'm still a Maidstone player.

"I'm going to play the next game and the game after and the game after that.

"I'm a Maidstone player and I'm not going anywhere.

"I look at it all and just laugh because I know they will see me play next week, so I haven't got to say anything back to them.

"I just make them wait and when they see me on the pitch they can think again and be like, 'oh, so he's back, he's really not going anywhere'.

"You've just got to make them see because you can't go about replying to everyone saying 'I'm staying'.

"I've just got to come back and play and then they will see it."

Head of football John Still has tipped Khan to play in the Football League and a number of scouts have been to the Gallagher.

But the Gambian is concentrating on getting himself fit and finishing the National South season strongly, having made a frustrated spectator.

He said: "The knee's getting better. I trained on it a few times and I think I made it worse but I should be back for the next game.

"I got hit right on the kneecap at Oxford and ever since then it's been sore but it's nothing serious.

"It's hard to take missing out because you come to the games and you want to be involved but you can't do anything.

"The best thing you can do is support the team but I'm a footballer and when I'm watching, I feel upset that I'm not playing.

"I've been waiting seven days for the next game and then I'm not right again but I'll hopefully be back for Hemel."
