Former Maidstone United midfielder Saidou Khan has secured a Football League move.
Khan, who left the Stones for Chesterfield last summer, has joined League 2 Swindon Town for an undisclosed fee.
The Robins are managed by ex-Chatham boss Scott Lindsey, who stepped up from his No.2 role at the County Ground this summer.
Khan spent two seasons with Maidstone, scoring an FA Cup stunner at Blackpool, and was tipped by former boss John Still to play in the Football League.
The Gambian was close to joining Luton Town while with the Stones, only for the Hatters to withdraw their interest.
But a series of outstanding displays as Chesterfield made the National League play-offs put him in the shop window and the 26-year-old moved to Swindon after they activated his release clause.
“I’m lost for words to be here and really excited to get going,” Khan told Swindon’s website.
"I’ve gone quite a long route in my footballing career to get to this stage, but I feel ready to perform and give my all for this great club.
“The fanbase here is incredible and as soon as I found out Town were interested in signing me, I had tunnel vision - I just wanted to get the deal done and it feels great to pull on the shirt.”
Robins manager Lindsey said: "It’s great we’ve been able to bring Saidou in and he’s a player I really like.
“He’s dynamic, has great physicality, is a good all-rounder and I’m really looking forward to seeing him settle into the team and drive his career forward here at Swindon.”
