Tonbridge have seen the last of Gavin McCallum after the striker was this week recalled from his loan spell by Sutton.

McCallum arrived on a one-month deal in December and made four appearances for Tonbridge, scoring once. Angels boss Tommy Warrilow had hoped to keep him at Longmead for a while longer, but an agreement couldn’t be reached.

Warrilow said: “Gavin’s been recalled, which is fine. He’s Sutton’s player. But I brought three loan players in last month and Gavin’s missed four games (because of postponements)."

Transfer business is still on the agenda for Warrilow, who thinks bringing players in could be easier once the January transfer window – which only applies down to Skrill Premier – has closed.

He said: “I’ve never been a great lover of the loan thing but with the situation we’re in, I’ve had to go down that road.

"With the transfer window open, it does affect us a little bit because the Conference (Premier) clubs are involved in it. After Friday, more targets will be available because they can’t sign permanent deals at that level.

“Clubs want to loan players to League clubs or to clubs at the next step down and there might be a bit more movement in Skrill South after Friday.”

Tonbridge are due to host Hayes & Yeading on Saturday, while last weekend's postponed trip to Farnborough has been rearranged for Tuesday.
