Striker Jay May is free to leave Maidstone.

May, United’s top scorer for the past two seasons, has been made available for transfer or loan.

The 30-year-old started the campaign on loan at Hastings after a calf injury.

He returned last month but has barely featured.

Stones boss Jay Saunders, who signed Jamar Loza last night, said: “Jay’s always had his knockers but he’s been great for us.

“I still feel he can offer us something but I didn’t think we’d get him enough game time and at his age it’s better to be playing regular football.

“He’s had a few calls. It’s just making sure he can agree something that’s right for him.”

Former Newport right-back Seth Twumasi could be with Maidstone at least until the January transfer window.

A one-off appearance in the Kent Senior Cup defeat at Bromley inadvertently scuppered a move to League 2 Cheltenham and United are ready to make the most of the ex-Chelsea youngster.

Saunders said: “Seth had agreed something with Cheltenham, he was about to sign but because he’d signed forms with us he was no longer a free agent and the deal couldn’t go through.

“They might still be interested in January but for the time being he’ll be playing for us."
