Head coach Hakan Hayrettin reckons Maidstone need to win their remaining nine games to have a chance of staying up.

The Stones are 11 points from safety with nine games left after losing at Eastleigh on Tuesday night and this Saturday make the trip to faltering title contenders Wrexham.

Asked how many games Maidstone need to win, Hayrettin said: "We need to win them all.

"We’ve got to go and fight, haven’t we? These are winnable games.

"It’s about structure, it’s about discipline, that’s all we we're trying to do, get them to understand what’s required to win games of football.

"And if they listen we’re there, if they don’t listen, it's not going to happen.

"How simple can it be? It’s getting there but it’s stop-start.

"It doesn’t help that we’ve constantly got injuries. Another one and another one.

"We’ve never been able to play the same team back-to-back."

Michael Phillips is the latest injury doubt after going off with a badly gashed ankle at Eastleigh.

Hayrettin doesn't know how long he'll be out and the same goes for defender Rob Swaine, whose stop-start spell at Maidstone continued when he sat out the Eastleigh match, days after impressing against Havant.

Hayrettin said: "It doesn't help when you've got a player who's injured after one game consistently."

Maidstone host old rivals Gillingham in the Kent Senior Cup semi-finals on Tuesday night (7.45pm).

United beat Gills 2-1 in last season's quarter-finals en route to lifting the trophy.
