Kent gymnasts Courtney Tulloch and James Hall have missed out on the Rio Olympics.

The British Olympic Association this afternoon announced the squad for the Games but there was no place for Tulloch or Hall, who are members of Pegasus Gymnastics Club in Maidstone.

Instead, the five-man men's squad features Max Whitlock, Louis Smith, Nile Wilson, Brinn Bevan and Kristian Thomas.

Tulloch had pushed his claims by helping Britain win team silver at the European Championships in Switzerland at the end of May.

Hall was reserve when GB took team silver at the Worlds in Glasgow in October last year.

Gymnastics team leader Alan Edge said: "We are delighted to have selected a group of world class gymnasts who go to the Games in great form and confident of achieving successful results across the board.

"This Olympic cycle has seen historic performances at World and European Championships that have firmly established Great Britain amongst the top gymnastics nations.

"We have a very unified team, our gymnasts are very well prepared and looking forward to not only the experience of the Games but also to proving themselves and producing their best performances."
