Jack Barham says promotion is more important than contract talks as he looks to fire Maidstone back to the National League.

Joan Luque, Regan Booty, Sam Corne and Joe Ellul have all signed contract extensions over the past few months.

They join George Fowler and Bivesh Gurung as players already on board for next season.

Maidstone are yet to hold talks with Barham but that doesn’t worry the 15-goal striker, whose main concern is promotion.

“I’ve not had any discussions yet,” said Barham, after scoring his third hat-trick of the season against Havant last weekend.

“For me, it’s a case of enjoy your football and keep playing well.

“In football, once you’re playing well and scoring goals, everyone starts sniffing anyway, including the club you’re at.

"We’ll sit down and speak but my main focus is not that, it’s promotion.

"When I first signed I said I wanted to get this club promoted and that’s what I’ll keep trying to do.

“I’d love to get this club promoted. The fans have been unbelievable for us. Week in, week out, they turn out in their numbers, home and away.

"It’s a club destined to go up into the Football League, everything about it is really good.

“We’ve got six games to go, we’ve got to keep ticking them off and hopefully at the end of the season, we’ll be having a party."

Barham, who on Monday was named National South player-of-the-month for March, has become a firm fan favourite at the Gallagher.

He loves playing in front of them and feels supporters have had a key role in Maidstone's title challenge.

"They're the best crowd at this level," said Barham. "It's so noisy in the Genco Stand, they suck the ball in.

"When I went on loan to Welling, when I was at Barnet, we played Torquay and they had a really good following.

"It made me want to play for a club who turned out in numbers like that. I thought it would be amazing to play in front of 2,500 every week, and sometimes 3,000.

"I was like one day hopefully I'll get to play in front of that many fans and I'm fortunate enough to be able to do that here and I'm loving it."
