Neither side could break the deadlock as Maidstone and Eastbourne played out a goalless draw at the Gallagher.

Sam Corne went closest for the Stones in a match short on chances while ex-United loanee Greg Luer hit the post for the visitors.

On the plus side, John Still’s side looked solid at the back and have their first clean sheet of the season in the bag.

Clovis Kamdjo came in for his full debut, Iffy Allen the man to miss out, as Maidstone looked to build on their weekend win at Hungerford.

The Stones started well, with much of game played in Boro’s half, and they went close inside five minutes with Corne just missing the top corner from Ibby Akanbi’s lay-off.

Maidstone put several crosses into the visitors’ box, including a lovely first-time centre from Kamdjo but Dan Wishart couldn’t quite keep down his header.

Nana Kyei, Corne and Noah Chesmain stuck further balls into the danger area but Eastbourne slowly grew into the game with most of their play going through Kane Wills in midfield.

He combined with James Ferry a number of times but Boro couldn’t fashion a serious chance in the first half, Kristian Campbell putting a header harmlessly wide and ex-Stones loanee Greg Luer sending a 25-yard free-kick into the Genco Stand.

Luer went close shortly after the break, showing a good turn of pace to shake off Gavin Hoyte down the flank before hitting the base of the post after breaking into the box.

It was Maidstone’s turn to threaten midway through the half after a quick break saw Nana Kyei feed Wishart whose cross was met by the flying Hoyte at the far post but his volley from point-blank range was blocked.

The Stones started to build pressure as time wore on, winning four corners in the space of a couple of minutes, with the home fans responding.

A good chance fell Wishart’s way when the ball dropped in the box but unfortunately it was on his right foot and he sliced wide.

Jake Cole pushed Charlie Walker’s 20-yard free-kick away as a late opportunity fell Eastbourne’s way.
