Luke Rooney has left Maidstone United after attracting interest from two Skrill Premier Clubs.

The former Gillingham midfielder, 23, joined Stones on non-contract terms following his release by League 1 Swindon in a bid to rediscover his love for the game.

He impressed during a six-week spell and leaves on a high after helping United to a 4-3 victory over Dulwich Hamlet at the Gallagher Stadium on Saturday.

Maidstone boss Jay Saunders said: "Luke’s a quality player and I knew it wouldn't be too long before some clubs came in for him.

"He’s been superb for us and we wish him every success in the future.”

Stones travel to East Thurrock for a rearranged Ryman League Premier Division match on Tuesday night.
