James Hall collected his second medal of the Commonwealth Games after a titanic tussle with England team-mate Nile Wilson.

Maidstone man Hall led by 0.025 points going into the last event of the all-around final but favourite Wilson produced a brilliant high bar routine to pinch gold.

There was nothing between the pair in a superb final in Australia in the early hours of this morning, with Pegasus gymnast Hall pushing Wilson, an Olympic bronze medallist on high bar, all the way.

Wilson took the gold with 84.950, less than a point clear of silver medallist Hall on 83.975, while Marios Georgiou of Cyprus claimed the bronze medal with 83.750.

Hall, speaking to the BBC, said: "It's not often you see a competition where going into the last piece the top three are within a tenth of each other.

"It's astounding and I don't think my heart can take many more of those! It was incredible to be a part of."

Hall and Wilson had helped England win team gold on Thursday, qualifying as the top two for the all-round final.

The Pegasus star, who won World Cup bronze before flying to Australia, also has pommel horse, parallel bars and high bar finals to look forward to over the next couple of days.
