New boss John Still will make life as simple as possible for Maidstone players.

It's a tried and tested approach and he's not about to change after more than four decades in management.

Still is back for a second spell at Maidstone, 30 years after winning promotion to the Football League.

It was the first of three Conference titles for the veteran boss, who later led Dagenham and Luton to glory.

His glittering CV also includes promotion to League 1 with the Daggers, so he knows exactly what he's talking about.

Still, 68, said: "I have a way of doing things and although I modify them, I don’t change them.

"You have to modify, because time moves on, but it's important I am able to implement what I want without outside influences.

"Here, it's been put to me that, however you do it, you go and do it and we'll support you.

"The way I've done things has always worked for me, so why am I going to change it?

"I think the way I play makes players better, because I sell a lot of players, but I also think it helps the team to achieve its potential.

"Not every team can win every game but I think most of the teams I’ve had have done as well as, if not better than expected.

"Wherever I've worked I always go about it the same way, with a smile on my face.

"Talk to people properly, I expect them to talk to me properly.

"I actually think I’m easy to play for and easy to work for because I make it so simple what I want.

"There are no grey areas. It might be a bit different from what they've been doing but the more they do it, I always think it becomes second nature.

"Simplicity is genius. Always has been, always will be."
