Maidstone are to sign England C international defender Luke Pennell from Dagenham.
The 23-year-old, who operates at centre-half or left-back, will officially become a Stones player on July 1 after his Daggers contract expires.
He’s agreed a one-year deal at the Gallagher and will link up with John Still for the second time, the Stones head of football having signed him at Dagenham when they were in League 2.
Still said: “The signing of Luke is one I am glad to get done.
“He is a player with experience in the Football League, National League and with England C and is somebody I know well, having brought him to Dagenham three years ago.
"Our defence is really starting to take shape now with Luke joining Noah Chesmain, Lewis Knight, George Elokobi and Gavin Hoyte in the squad for the upcoming season.”
Pennell was a schoolboy at MK Dons and Rushden & Diamonds before moving into first-team football at Banbury, Wolverton and Dunstable, where the 6ft 3in defender was spotted by Still.
After signing for Dagenham in March 2016 he made 47 appearances for the Londoners, scoring one goal and earning an England C call-up in 2018.
