Maidstone are looking for a first win in six games at Eastbourne tonight.

Their winless run in National South stretches back to the start of November when they lost 2-0 at home to Dartford.

Draws against Ebbsfleet, Billericay and Dorking followed before a 2-1 defeat at Hungerford in Maidstone’s first league game for a month at the weekend.

Hakan Hayrettin’s side will move a point behind eighth-placed Eastbourne if they win the rearranged fixture.

The Stones boss is looking for a reaction following the Hungerford defeat.

He said: “It’s tough to come back after a long time out but we’ve got that one out the way and we’ve got to go again.

“I believe in my squad, I think we’ve got a good squad here and we’ll have to get a reaction on Tuesday.”

Maidstone have plenty of midweek matches as they play catch-up in light of Covid-related postponements.

The squad will come into play as Hayrettin bids to guide his side back into the play-off positions over the coming weeks.

He said: “We’re 11 games in, we’ve still got 29 to go, so there’s a lot of points to play for.

“We’ve got no choice but to play all these midweek games, it’s going to be the same for everyone.

“We’ve got to utilise the squad.”

Maidstone’s trip to Eastbourne in March proved to be their final game of the curtailed 2019/20 season.

It was Hayrettin’s first match in charge after being confirmed as John Still’s successor but ended in a 3-0 defeat.

Chris Lewington scored an own goal - not dissimilar to the one at Hungerford - with Boro pulling clear in the second half.

Hayrettin said: “Eastbourne was my first game but it was John’s team. We go again.”

Saidou Khan could feature after declaring himself fit following two months out with a knee injury.
