Maidstone United's FA Trophy tie at home to Worthing has fallen victim to the weather.

The sides were due to meet in a Third-Round tie tomorrow but the pitch remains covered in snow and the match was called off following a 4pm inspection.

Ice on the approach to the Gallagher Stadium and around the ground itself also poses a risk to spectator safety.

With temperatures set to improve after the weekend, the tie has been rearranged for Tuesday night (7.45pm). Tickets already purchased remain valid for the new date.

A club statement said: "Following a pitch inspection, tomorrow's FA Trophy match against Worthing has been postponed.

"Sunday's snowfall, followed by sub-zero temperatures all this week, have prevented the snow from thawing."

Worthing, who are ninth in National South, beat Weymouth 4-2 in the previous round.

It will be Maidstone's first game in this season's competition, with National League clubs entering in Round Three.

In other news, the Stones have extended left-back Ryan Galvin's loan from Sheffield Wednesday into the second week of January.

Galvin has made 17 appearances for Hakan Hayrettin's side, winning the player-of-the-month award in October.

* Tonbridge's National South home game against Dover has been postponed for the second time this week, with Longmead still covered in snow.

The Kent derby had been rearranged for tomorrow following Tuesday's call-off.

Angels said: "Unfortunately, due to the continued cold weather, the pitch at Longmead remains unplayable, so our match v Dover Athletic has been postponed.

"A new date will be published in due course."

Tonbridge boss Jay Saunders had been looking forward to getting the game played as his side bid to bounce back from last weekend's 5-0 defeat by Weymouth.
