Maidstone have signed forward Sol Wanjau-Smith from National South club Hungerford.

Wanjau-Smith impressed against the Stones in both league meetings this season.

He set up the injury-time winner for Ryan Seager as Hungerford beat Maidstone 3-2 at Bulpit Lane last October.

The 23-year-old provided another assist for Seager and was on the scoresheet himself at the Gallagher in March as the Crusaders led 2-0 before United won a five-goal thriller.

He finished the campaign with six goals and 17 assists, also winning nine penalties.

“We’ve been watching him, he’s a player I really like,” said Stones boss Hakan Hayrettin, after the National League new boys completed their first summer signing.

“He’s direct, he’s got good vision, his pace created a lot of goals for Seager. I’m really pleased to get this one done.”

Wanjau-Smith, who can play out wide or through the middle, joined Hungerford two years ago from Southern League Slimbridge.

He's relocating from his home in Bristol to join the Stones.

“It feels brilliant, I’m just so happy to get it over the line," Wanjau-Smith told Stones TV.

"Obviously, it’s a massive club, they won the league last year, it’ll be great to join the champions, we’ve got a great group and I’m so happy to get going, so excited.

"I’m so grateful that Hak and Terry (Harris, assistant manager) have given me this opportunity and hopefully I can repay their faith and play in front of the fans and play well."
