Tooting & Mitcham United 3 Maidstone United 1
MAIDSTONE UNITED'S 11-game unbeaten streak came to an end at Tooting and Mitcham after a late goal by home striker Eben Allen killed off a spirited second half rally.
The Stones trailed 1-0 to a 19th minute goal by Tooting skipper Allan McLeod but they equalised seven minutes later when Mo Takaloo scored from an acute angle.
Two minutes before half-time United allowed Tooting striker Paul Vines too much time and space in the box and he planted a header past Pat Mullin.
In the second period, McLeod was lucky to stay on the field after throwing a punch at Maidstone's Sam Tydeman but he was only shown a yellow card, while Tydeman was booked for retaliation.
With five minutes left Mario McNish's header was saved by Tooting keeper Dave King's face and cleared for a corner.
Jason Barton then headed straight at King before Tooting counter-attacked and Allen scored to end any hopes the Stones had of an equaliser.
