Maidstone United manager Jay Saunders hopes to sign Tonbridge Angels forward Frannie Collin

Frannie Collin could be on his way to the Gallagher Stadium as a replacement for Maidstone club captain Shaun Welford.

Stones boss Jay Saunders is keen to sign Collin but insists no deal has yet been done for the former Tonbridge goal machine.

Signing Collin would be a significant coup for Saunders, who has already brought his former Angels team-mate Lee Worgan to the club.

The 26-year-old ex-Gillingham and Dover forward has scored 20 goals in each of his last three seasons at Longmead. He was named Blue Square Bet South player of the year in 2011-12 and scooped the golden boot in the same season.

Maidstone, unsurprisingly, face a battle to secure his signature.

Saunders said: “We’ve got a chance, I would have thought, but you never know. Good players get a lot of offers.”
