Funding is tight but Maidstone United remain committed to expanding the Gallagher Stadium.

Stones need at least £500,000 for the project which includes a 358-seat extension of the East Stand and additional terracing.

The club made about £200,000 from this season’s FA Cup exploits and have raised £80,000 through selling three-year corporate packages.

United, who have allocated money from last season’s profits, will also use the grant system and can count on support from sponsors Britelite and Gullands.

They remain short of the target but that won’t stop them pushing ahead with plans at the end of the season.

Co-owner Oliver Ash said: “To build the extension, increase capacity and add extra turnstiles and entrances and exits is very expensive and puts pressure on the budget. In other words, it’s going to cost more than we originally thought.

"We will find the money somehow but because we’re short of money it may be that we can’t do everything we want to do. We’re still looking for new business partnerships to help and we’ve got lots of sponsorship packages we’re trying to sell.

“We’re going to need £500,000, which is a lot of money, but even that may not be enough by the time you add in ongoing costs and making sure we have the extra turnstiles and entrances and exits to get the capacity up to 3,000."
