Maidstone winger Liam Sole is off to play in Scotland next season.

Sole will join West Lothian club Livingston on a two-year deal when his Stones contract runs out this summer.

The Lions also have an option on a third year, with Sole linking up with his new club in June.

United revealed Sole would be leaving the Gallagher when they released their retained list on Thursday.

They said he was “exploring other options” and his move to Livingston was announced last night.

The Lions are all but relegated from the Scottish Premiership, meaning Sole - who will wear the No.7 shirt - will be playing in the Championship next season.

It’s an exciting opportunity for the 24-year-old, who wrote on X: “Can’t wait to get started.”

Sole, previously on the books at Watford, MK Dons and Nottingham Forest, joined Maidstone last summer after leaving St Albans.

Injury kept him out of the run-in as George Elokobi’s side reached the National League South play-off semi-finals.

But he still enjoyed an impressive campaign, not least with his performances in the FA Cup as Maidstone made the last 16.

Indeed, it was Sole’s pass that released Lamar Reynolds for the opening goal in United’s 2-1 fourth-round win at Ipswich in January.

Sole isn’t the first Maidstone player to make the move to Scotland.

Three years ago, winger Justin Amaluzor left the Gallagher for Scottish Premiership side Motherwell.

He spent a season at Fir Park before returning south to join Aldershot Town in the National League.
