Newport IOW 0 Maidstone 4
STEVE MARSHALL came off the bench and scored a hat-trick in less than six minutes as Maidstone pulled off an FA Cup shock at Dr Martens League Newport IOW.
The Stones, whose cup run is being followed by national television on Football Focus' Road To Cardiff feature, had already knocked Dr Martens League neighbours Tonbridge out in the previous round.
And they turned the form book on its head again largely due to Marshall's second half exploits.
Stones boss Jim Ward said: "The boys were superb. We were playing against a Dr Martens League side again, yet we've triumphed.
"Newport is a hard place to play and not many people come here and win."
Maidstone dominated the first half but had nothing to show for it, and it was not until the 64th minute that they went ahead through a fine solo goal by Adrian Webster.
A minute after coming on as a 72nd minute substitute Marshall netted after Steve Butler headed the ball back across goal to him.
Neil Davey's 20-yard shot was diverted into the net by Marshall for the third.
Marshall then burst through in the 78th minute and drew keeper Neil Guile out of his goal before tucking home the fourth.
