Maidstone United boss Jay Saunders fears 4-1 defeats at Thamesmead and Harrow could cost his side the Ryman League, Premier Division title.

Maidstone lead Dulwich Hamlet on goal difference, but third-placed Wealdstone are only two points behind with four games in hand.

Saunders said: “Wealdstone have always been favourites in my eyes and it’s in their hands now. They’re the best side we’ve played this season, along with Bognor.

“They’ve been trying to win it for a few years and they have a good chance this season. I know it’s easier said than done, but they’ll go 10 points clear if they win their games in hand.

“I’m not saying we can’t win it but, no disrespect, you can’t afford to be losing 4-1 at Thamesmead and Harrow, like we have.”

United host Wingate & Finchley at the Gallagher Stadium on Saturday where Jack Parkinson and Graeme Andrews are set to continue in central defence as Jerrome Sobers is struggling with a groin problem.

Michael Phillips is doubtful after missing the last two matches through injury but Nathan Campbell is an option if Saunders wants to shore up the middle of the park.
