Blair Turgott has joined Swedish club Ostersunds from Maidstone on a three-year-contract.

The former Stones skipper confirmed talks in an interview with KentOnline last week.

He also had interest from League 1 and League 2 clubs but Ostersunds have their man.

"I think while I'm here I'm going to take it one step at a time and just give my 100% everything for the club," Turgott told Ostersunds' YouTube channel.

"Hopefully over time I will show the type of player I am.

"I think that's the main thing really.

"Obviously it's completely different to me to play in this league but I'm looking forward to the challenge and I'm really excited."

Ostersunds are 10th after 14 games of the Allsvenskan season and host Norkopping this weekend.

The club made headlines in the UK last year after beating Arsenal in a Europa League tie at the Emirates.

They have an English manager, Ian Burchnall, and an English technical director, Dave Webb, who made the initial contact with Turgott.

Turgott suggested last week Ostersunds, whose squad includes ex-Manchester United midfielder Ravel Morrison, were his preferred move.

He said: "When I look at the standard of football, some of the teams in that league would do really well in the Championship.

“There’s big clubs, teams like Malmo, who played against Chelsea in the Europa League last season.

“There’s avenues to move from there and sometimes as a footballer you’ve got to come out of your comfort zone.

“It’s probably something I wasn’t really expecting but when the option came about, I was like, ‘When I actually look at it, it would be a massive step up for me’ and it’s something I feel like I need."
