Maidstone United winger Vas Karagiannis can't wait to get at the big-name opponents in the National League

Maidstone winger Vas Karagiannis intends to enjoy himself in the National League.
United face former Football League clubs York, Aldershot, Chester and Tranmere in the opening month of the season.
And Greek winger Karagiannis is eager to get at the big-name opponents awaiting Jay Saunders’ side.
He said: “Honestly, I’ve never been nervous before a game of football. It’s just football. When the gaffer gives me my chance to play, I just want to enjoy myself.
“There’s no need to be nervous, I’ve played in this league before with Welling and know what it’s all about.
“Football is there to be enjoyed and when players enjoy themselves, that’s when good things happen."
Karagiannis’ willingness to take on players and shoot, plus his dead-ball ability, made him a big crowd favourite at the Gallagher after joining from Leatherhead midway through last season.
There’s no reason to change his approach playing up a league.
He said: “I’m going to play the same way I always do. It’s a level up but I believe the way I play is going to work and I can make a difference. I’m going to progress, I like to score goals, I know how to score goals and that’s what I want to do."
