Maidstone captain Steve Watt is set for a scan on his calf on Friday.

The former Chelsea defender has been frustrated in his bid to recover from the injury that’s kept him out since December.

Stones have missed his presence and want him back as soon as possible. Boss Jay Saunders said: “Harrow (Maidstone lost 4-1) was a prime example of a game that would have suited Watty.

“He’s our captain and our voice out on the pitch and we’re missing him.

“He broke down again and is having the scan in the hope we can get to the bottom of the problem. We had the best defence in the league before Christmas.

“Graeme Andrews and Jerrome Sobers have had injuries too and all of a sudden we’re chopping and changing our centre-halves. We brought Jack Parkinson in but I don’t think he’s played more than two games with the same partner."

Meanwhile, Watt has joined the youth set-up at Skrill South Ebbsfleet as a part-time coach. He worked under Fleet boss Steve Brown at Dover before joining Maidstone last season.
