Lee Worgan impressed with Maidstone United's ambition following move from Tonbridge Angels

Goalkeeper Lee Worgan hailed Maidstone’s massive ambition and phenomenal fan base as the reasons behind his move to the Gallagher Stadium this week.
The 29-year-old rejected a new contract at Tonbridge and turned down big-money offers from other clubs before signing for the newly-promoted Stones.
Worgan spent five years at Longmead, carving out a reputation as one of the most talented goalkeepers in non-league football.
He steps down from Conference South to succeed Deren Ibrahim at Maidstone, but expects to be back in the division before long.
Worgan said: “I was in talks with a couple of clubs but Maidstone was the one. I had quite a lot of talks with Jay Saunders and he filled me with confidence about the squad he wants to put together.
“The club has massive ambition but they’re not going to throw silly money around. I think they can go as far as they want. The structure’s there in terms of the ground, the supporters and the commercial side.
“To attract the crowds they have at their level is phenomenal, really. Maidstone is one of the biggest towns in Kent so you’re going to get that sort of fan base. As a player, that’s incredibly appealing.”
