Kent gymnast James Hall warmed up for the Commonwealth Games in Australia by winning his second World Cup medal of the year.

Hall, 22, followed silver in America last month by landing bronze in front of his home crowd in Birmingham.

It was the perfect preparation for the Gold Coast games which start next week.

Pegasus star Hall, who left for Australia on Saturday, said: "Two World Cups and two medals - that's something else.

"This was my fifth World Cup and I remember coming last once and thinking 'Oh my God, this is what it's going to be like' with all these huge gymnasts and I was trying to break into the top 10 in the world.

"But since then it's been perseverance in the gym with Ionut (Trandaburu) and Ovi (Rugina, Pegasus coaches) and it's paid off.

"I went to America the other week for a World Cup and got a silver and now a bronze so it's definitely working to be up there with the top guys.

"Leading into the Commonwealth Games it can only give me and the team confidence.

"My confidence is sky-high after that, especially in front of a home crowd.

"It's great when the crowd's behind you but when it's a home crowd it makes you stand that little bit taller and have that extra bit of confidence."

Hall and Pegasus clubmate Courtney Tulloch are settling into the surroundings of the athletes village in Australia. They're in the five-man England team who will be going for glory at the Commonwealth Games.

Coach Trandaburu said: "Team England is settling down now after a few days of fighting with the jet lag and stiffness.

"Australia looks amazing, the village is great with 6,000 athletes bonding together.

"The food is great, facilities and people around are great and very helpful.

"Security is tight over here but it is great to know we are all safe."
