Zac Attwood scored a last-minute winner as Maidstone United boosted their Ryman League Premier Division play-off hopes with a 2-1 victory at Bury Town on Saturday afternoon.

Attwood, whose 85th-minute goal salvaged a point against East Thurrock last weekend, bundled home as Stones won on the road for the first time since the 3-0 success at Kingstonian on February 1.

The goal lifted Jay Saunders' men up a place to fourth in the table with four games left.

Captain Steve Watt marked his first start since December by setting up the opening goal for Dan Parkinson after only six minutes.

But the lead was short-lived with Nnamdi Nwackhu pouncing on a clearance that went over Watt's head to lob Lee Worgan on 14 minutes.

Worgan kept United on level terms at a goalmouth scramble midway through the half, then United went close to going back in front just after the break with Frannie Collin hitting the bar.

Stones had a penalty appeal for a challenge on Charley Robertson turned down but snatched the points when Jack Parkinson's throw from the right was flicked on by Jack Harris to Attwood at the far post.
