The unforgiving surroundings of The Skrill South have left Tonbridge licking their wounds ahead of a Bank Holiday double-header which promises little respite.

Tommy Warrilow’s side lost 2-1 at Eastbourne Borough on Tuesday night after a conceding from virtually the last kick of the game.

That followed Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at home to Boreham Wood, leaving Angels still searching for their first point of the campaign.

They make the short trip to Bromley ton Saturday before hosting Chelmsford at Longmead on Bank Holiday Monday, with Warrilow keen to put some points on the board as soon as possible.

He said: “If it goes on and on, it becomes a bit of a hindrance. It would have been nice to get off the mark on Tuesday night and nice to take two points off Eastbourne Borough.

“The way we lost, on the last kick of the game, was a bitter pill to swallow. We deserved something out of the game and the disappointing thing is that we had a throw in their final third.

“We lost the ball, we weren’t strong enough and they scored from it. We can’t feel sorry for ourselves. We’ve got to lick our wounds and stay strong.”

Sonny Miles scored Tonbridge’s goal at Eastbourne, where Warrilow lost Lee Browning to a knee injury. As well as Browning, Warrilow could be without Henry Muggeridge (flu) and Ryan Watts (hamstring) for Saturday’s game at Bromley, who sit top of the early table.
